Being a native speaker is not a teaching qualification
Every marketplace sells you the same thing: hundreds of native speakers, sorted by price. You pick one from a photo and a two-line bio, and you find out in lesson three whether they know how to teach.
You speak English. That doesn’t mean you could explain to a Spanish adult why “I have been living here” and “I have lived here” are not the same sentence. Teaching is a separate skill, learned separately.

What a trained teacher notices that a native speaker doesn’t
You say soy aburrido when you mean you’re bored. A native speaker works out what you meant and moves on — without mentioning that you just said I am a boring person. A trained teacher hears that you reached for the permanent verb where the passing state belongs, knows that’s the same confusion behind four other mistakes you made today, and puts it at the top of your next lesson.
That’s the whole job: finding the pattern under the words, not just correcting the words.

Our teachers are native speakers. If you need a particular accent, because your family is Mexican or because you’re moving to Madrid, tell us when you take your free level test.
Spanish is one language with a lot of local weather. Vocabulary changes, some of the grammar changes, and everyone understands everyone anyway. A teacher from Bogotá will not leave you unprepared for Miami.
Searching for a Spanish teacher near you makes sense if you live in a city with a real supply of them. Everywhere else, “near me” means a two-hour round trip or whoever happens to be free on Thursdays. When you learn Spanish online, your teacher is chosen for how well they teach, not for how close they live.

Are the Spanish teachers at 1on1Spanish native speakers?
Yes, all of them. They're native Spanish speakers, and they also hold a teaching qualification, which is the part most platforms skip. Speaking a language and teaching it are different skills. We hire for both, so your teacher can explain why something is wrong, not only tell you that it is.
What if I don't understand an explanation in Spanish?
Most of the lesson happens in Spanish because that's what you're paying for, but every teacher speaks English and will explain in it when you need it, then take you straight back. Complete beginners are not left stranded in a language they don't speak yet.
Can I choose my Spanish teacher, or change to a different one?
You pick the time that suits you and book the teacher available in that slot, so you'll meet more than one over a month. Every one of them reads your full record before the lesson, so nothing restarts. If you'd rather not be matched with someone again, tell us and we won't. It costs nothing.
What happens if my teacher is sick or cancels a lesson?
There's a school behind your teacher, so the lesson doesn't vanish. We offer you another slot, and if a lesson fails on our side we make it right. That's the practical difference between a school and hiring a freelancer directly.
